POSTERITY Fior D'Arancio Passito DOCG
POSTERITY Fior D'Arancio Passito DOCG
100% Yellow Muscat
Moscato Giallo is one of the symbols of the Euganean Hills, a vine that has been present on the gentle slopes since the Middle Ages. It spread especially under the dominion of the Serenissima, thanks to the particular characteristics linked to the nature of the subsoil of volcanic origin, which enhance the finesse of the aromas and the consistency of the taste. Since the past, this historic vine was harvested late, so that the grape had a high sugar content, which allowed for the production of a very soft and velvety wine.
This is a wine for meditation, which among the Hills invites you to delve deeper into some reflections, as Francesco Petrarca used to do, who lived in Arquà where the La Costa company historically cultivates some of its vines.
The name of this wine was inspired by the great poet himself: just as Petrarch in his Letter to Posterity wanted to leave future generations a faithful description of himself, so Posterity wanted to leave in those who drink it the entire heritage of the places where it is born.
The harvest is done by hand very late, depending on the season, 40 to 60 days after ripening. During this period, a continuous and careful selection is made, leaving only the most beautiful and healthiest bunches on the plant. The harvested grapes are put in the press and the resulting must is cooled for 12 hours in a steel tank at a controlled temperature of 7-8°C, so that it clarifies. Decanted, it is fermented partly in wood (barriques) and partly in steel at a controlled temperature of 18-20°C. It is left to rest for at least six months during which it is repeatedly checked and, if necessary, decanted to obtain the desired aromatic sensations. After having assembled the part fermented in wood with that fermented in steel, it is filtered and bottled.
